I have been playing in a soccer league for old dudes like me. We play on Sundays, and I am having a lot of fun. My level of fitness is not where it needs to be, but if I keep this up it will get much better. Last week I was sore until Thursday, so we can safely deduce I am not 18 anymore. Our team name is Breathless which is really fitting since I am having so much trouble with my athletically induced asthma.

Yesterday I wasn't thinking like a responsible adult when I went to Ragin’ Cajun to get a bite 30 minutes before the game. Let's just say Cajun spices don't stay down real well. Ricky reminded me of when I was in 8th grade and I ate snickers bars before every race and then threw them up at the end. I was lucky I kept the Shrimp Po-Boy and spicy fries down, but it wasn't for a lack of trying on their part.

We scored early in the first half with a little dinky shot. The wind was really ripping across the field and so there were a ton of great shots. None of them scored but a little blooper did. That figures. The second half was tough since we had the wind in our face. The other team, named the Challengers II, was getting frustrated and wanted more fouls called. The game was getting rough, but I think the ref called it fairly.

Final Score:

Breathless 1, Challengers II 0
